Popis: | The effect of potassium dichromate as an oxidizing agent in the presence of sulphuric or oxalic acid on the dielectric properties of viscose fibres was investigated. The results obtained were interpreted in view of the chemical and physical modifications that occurred in the structure of the fibres during oxidation. It was found that while the dielectric relaxation process observed in viscose disappeared in oxyviscose prepared by oxidation using dichromate in sulphuric acid, a new relaxation was observed under certain conditions of oxidation when oxalic acid was used as a medium. This relaxation ( denoted as - β ′) was attributed to some amplitude vibrations of the sugar rings about the glycosidic linkage. |
