Popis: The Network Training Materials Project at the University of Newcastle (UK) surveyed the existing scope of network training materials and found that printed material was the most common, but that there was a demand for alternative forms of training material, particularly for self-teaching purposes. The Project is producing generic training materials primarily for the UK user-support community, though in practice, they have been taken up world-wide. These materials, and the community's response to them, are described. The paper briefly surveys examples of interactive and self-help training, looks at issues pertaining to self-teaching, and puts forward a proposal for self-help,interactive training.
