Popis: | Thin films of Ag2S were produced under high and ultrahigh vacuum conditions by simultaneous evaporation from two separate sources. Silver was evaporated by resistance heating; sulphur was produced from an electrochemical cell. The way in which the structure of these Ag2S films depended on the silver: sulphur ratio and on heat treatment in the electron microscope was investigated. The influence of the α-β phase transition on both film structure and orientation is discussed. |
