Today, one of the biggest problems faced by the growing elderly population is falling. As a result of the fall, people often loses consciousness or unable to call for help. In this situation fall detection systems are used to detect fall and make it possible to call for help in shortest time. Nowadays the most commonly used fall detection systems can only works in fixed places such as home or indoor environments and these systems also needs to be installed in every room. There are also GSM based outdoor fall detection systems in the market but because of the module size and short term battery they are not preferred by patients. To eliminate these drawbacks we design a low-power-consumption fall detection module that can connects to a commonly used mobile smart phones. Our system consists of a sensor module and smart phone application. The patient can use this module on his/her neck like a neckless in any environment. There is also embedded panic button in the module which can also be used in emergency situation to call for help. |
