Popis:	During the last decade, American higher education has witnessed an unprecedented growth in fund-raising activities at colleges and universities. Multi-year campaigns to raise $100 million or more have become the norm. This paper studies the impact of environmental factors and the structure of the development office at public doctorate-granting universities on their fund-raising activities—specifically how institutions interpret their environment in light of fund-raising objectives.
