Popis: T HE STUDY OF MUSICAL LIFE in North Italian courts and cities during the Renaissance, once a neglected field, is now enjoying a renaissance of its own. Little research has been attempted, however, on the role of women as patrons of music, even though major figures present themselves for consideration, especially during the late fifteenth and early sixteenth centuries: Beatrice d'Este in Milan, Elisabetta Gonzaga in Urbino, Lucrezia Borgia in Ferrara, and Isabella d'Este in Mantua.
