Popis: This paper outlines methods for simulations of a fluidic switch percussion drilling system, which is under development in the H2020 Geo-Drill project. The simulations include 3D non-Newtonian flows with Large Eddy Simulation (LES) turbulence modelling, Arbitrary Lagrangian-Eulerian (ALE) for fluid-structure interaction, thermo-mechanical simulation of heat transfer and thermal stresses in drill string/well casings/rock formation, a 1D two-phase dynamic pipe network flow assurance simulator with multi-component geochemistry and reaction kinetics, and a 1D structural dynamics simulator. Simulation models for the drill mud and the percussion mechanism have been developed and tuned through experiments carried out in the project.
