In the Solling region 148 species of birds have been recorded. Of these 90 are now nesting regularly. The group of most numerous species consists of woodland birds and ubiquitous ones. About 75% of the area are wooded, whereas it is lacking in wetlands and large lakes with reedbeds. Therefore some of the commonest birds in Germany, notably Lapwing, Yellow Wagtail and Reed Warbler, are not represented in the Solling which is a landscape of little species richness in the avifauna as well as in the flora. |
