Laser raman spectra of the uranium hexachloride molecule and anions (UCl6, UCl6−1 and UCl6−2)

Popis: Uranium hexachloride species in which the uranium is in the three, different VI, V and IV oxidation states were synthesized and their laser Raman spectra studied. The various spectra of UCl6, UCl6−1 and UCl6−2 show a similar pattern of three lines. These were assigned as ν1, ν2 and ν5, the Raman active vibrations of an octahedral symmetry −Oh. The changes in the frequencies of the respective vibrations were correlated with changes in oxidation states of uranium and with the counter cations in the various salts.
