Popis: | This paper presents an adaptive adjustment of thresholds for diagnosing the insulation status of medium-voltage power cable joints and triggering the emergency alert before insulation breakdown. The principle of this method is based on the decrease in the discharge phase along with insulation degradation. First, the initial threshold is evaluated by the end of the partial discharge (PD) data, so that it can classify the insulation status as about to fail. In addition, the adaptive adjustment of thresholds can trigger the emergency status alert earlier and even effectively test the samples where initial thresholds cannot trigger the emergency alert. The proposed method does not need the definition of the state class, unlike machine learning. The performance of the different adjustments is estimated using two types of PD quantities: average discharge and fractal of the n-q-φ pattern. The latter effectively triggers the emergency status alert in all test samples before insulation breakdown. The residual time after the emergency alert, related to maintenance, is also studied and compared. |
