Popis: IN spite of the tremendous amount of research which has been done on the subject, chronic arthritis still remains one of the great unsolved problems confronting the medical profession to-day. The lack of exact knowledge of the etiology of chronic arthritis has been a great handicap in its classification and management. The past few years, however, have witnessed a renewed interest in the subject and a closer co-operation of those interested. The formation of the new society, in this country, for the control of rheumatism is an indication of the efforts in this direction. The classification has been gradually simplified and clarified until at the present time it is almost universally recognized that there are two great groups of arthritis. The terminology of these two groups varies widely in different parts of the world and to a lesser degree in individual countries.
