Universities and schools are profoundly impacted and transformed by the availability of cheap, pervasive, and widely used technologies that enable to introduce new forms of education and learning. This change has generated many expectations (and fears) about the new role of education institutions: do we still need them? What is their role going to be? This paper summarizes some arguments and suggestions on this topic, based on author’s experiences. The paper does not aim at providing definite answers, but to contribute to an open discussion and reflection on such an important and critical topic. |
