Popis: to form butt-welded joints of aluminum A-5 shells 0.2 to 0.3 mm thick. We investigated the possibility of using an A-1281M microplasma ae power supply package developed at the Paton Electric Welding Institute in order to weld aluminum 0.3-0.4 mm thick. Butt joints were welded either flanged or unflanged. Prior to flanging, the edges to be welded were cleaned by application of fine emery paper. Immediately prior to welding, the butting edges were wiped with a rag dipped in alcohol. Grade A argon was used as the plasma-forming gas, high-purity grade helium as the protective inert gas. Microplasma welding conditions were varied depending on the preparation of the butting edges. The dimensions of the holes in the plasma torch nozzle were 0.9 and 1.0 ram
