Chapter 10 summarizes each chapter and evaluates the three cosmological theories of value, i.e., cosmological reverence, cosmocultural evolution, and the connection-action principle, as foundations for worldviews and provides a partial synthesis. Using various criteria, the three cosmological theories of value are compared and contrasted to help assess the extent to which they may serve as foundations for worldviews and meaning-making. The assessment suggests that a form of cosmocultural evolution, namely bootstrapped cosmocultural evolution, may be the most defensible cosmological theory of value and source of meaning as a “worldview”, bridging what may be pointless humble beginnings of life and intelligence to cosmically meaningful futures guided by cultural valuing agents such as ourselves. |
