Determination of pavement thickness using a time domain approach

Popis: A non-destructive method based on reflected P-waves is proposed to accurately determine the thickness of a concrete pavement layer. The method is based on time-domain analysis. Prior knowledge of P-wave velocity and geometrical correction factors are not required with the configuration. The dynamic surface response is investigated using a Finite Element Model to simulate wave propagation in the pavement. The proposed approach is described and a simple test procedure is recommended based on the numerical results. Preliminary experimental procedures and results are presented.
