Short-term and residual stress in rollers on electroquenching

Popis: A mathematical model is derived for the thermal-stress state of steel rollers quenched after inductive heating. The model involves numerical solution of a system of interrelated equations of nonlinear thermal conductivity and thermoviscoelasticity, with allowance for the kinetics of austenite phase transformation and the specifics of inductive heating. The model is verified by comparing the calculated stress in a roller of 210-mm diameter and experimental data obtained by the Sachs method.
