Popis: Two methods are described for the determination of the Kober chromogens in acid-hydrolysed pregnancy urine for use as indicators of foetal and/or placental malfunction. One method in particular requires little specialised equipment and the result is available within 3 h of receipt of a 24-h urine specimen. Fifteen urine specimens can be assayed in a working day by one person. An analysis of the application of these methods in 444 pregnancies showed that a subnormal excretion of the Kober chromogens was associated with risk of foetal death in utero in most cases.
