Popis:	Diagnosis of Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) is based on a range of both clinical and radiological signs. Treatment should be started as soon as possible, and is dependent on the stage of the disease. For the phase where a burning sensation is felt, the aim is to provide pain relief. As a first-line measure, over the counter, non-steroidal antiinflammatory drugs are prescribed, in combination with bisphosphonates, oral corticosteroids and the topical application of lidocaine and/or anti-oxidant (50% DMSO) patches, if required. More invasive techniques are reserved for refractory forms of the disease. During the cold and atrophic phases, physiotherapy is initially used, in combination with previous treatments if required.
