This chapter will very briefly cover both niche and highly specialized and emerging applications for polymer foams. Some of these areas include space applications, filters, carrier of inks, dyes and lubricants, water-repellant membranes, artificial skin, high coefficient of friction—nonslip surface applications, high damping capacity in sound absorption, and electrical properties (dielectric loss). Discussions will focus on mere introduction of application and possible design consideration for optimization. |
