Popis: | The rates of electron-transfer cross-reactions of [RuIIICF{3COCH(CO)R}3] and [RuII{CF3COCH (CO)R}3]− (R = trifluoromethyl, methyl,t-butyl, furyl, thienyl, phenyl) in acetonitrile have beenmeasured spectrophotometrically at 5–30 °C by means of the stopped-flow method. The rates were of the first-order with respect to each reactant concentration; the second-order rate constants were of the order of 108 mol−1 dm3 s−1 at 25°C. The standard Gibbs energies of activation were ∼25 kJ mol−1. No correlation was found between the standard activation energy and the standard Gibbs energy of the electron-transfer reaction. The rate constant tended to decrease with increasing reactant-separation distance. |
