Popis: Species of Hypericum accumulate phenolic compounds with the phloroglucinol substitution pattern, and there are many reports of such substances isolated from the aerial parts of the plants. In this study, flowers of plants grown in south Brazil were analyzed by means of HPLC, verifying the presence of benzopyrans in H. polyanthemum and dimeric phloroglucinol derivatives in H. caprifoliatum, H. connatum, H. myrianthum and H. polyanthemum. All flowers presented flavonoids, mainly quercetin derivatives, whereas hypericin and analogues were not detected.
