Popis: The quantitative assessment of the condition of biological-tissues has become a powerful means to characterize diseases and malfunctions of the affected organs even in a preclinical stage. The capabilities of acoustic quantification can be enhanced by phase insensitive signal processing (PISP), the possibility of which is provided by the PASS being presented in this paper. The PISP minimizes the overestimation of the acoustic attenuation because phase cancellation does not occur. Therefore a higher reliability of the quantification parameters as indicators of malfunctions can be expected another useful effect of PISP is given by the image enhancement
