We reviewed the 80 most outstanding papers ever presented and hence rewarded with awards at “IFSCC,” the one and only international conference/congress specializing in multiply combined scientific disciplines from which cosmetics are born, in an attempt to extract any correlations between such papers and cosmetic R&D trends over more than 40 years of time frame that gave birth to these papers. The 80 award-winning papers were categorized as either “Skin biology,” “Formulation technologies and new materials,” or “Hair and scalp,” and technological advancements were assembled chronologically based on their research contents. It is meaningful to look back at past technical trends in order to gain insights into new areas of research interests and/or product development. |
