Popis: Monitoring of geotechnical investigations comprising the excavation of 28 machine-dug test-pits and 19 cable-percussive boreholes. Archaeological remains were identified in three test pits. Possible surface archaeological features, probably field ditches, were identified in TP 201 and 208. No artefacts were recovered from these features. Three sherds of late medieval/post-medieval pottery were found in TP209. They were recovered from c.0.4m from the present surface level, from either the base of the subsoil or top of the underlying deposit with which it had a merging boundary. Overall the results of the test-pitting established that unstratified material was scarce, though fragments of post medieval/modern tile and brick were noted in the topsoil/subsoil in the vicinity of former extraction works in the Utling area (e.g. TP218). No attempt was made to record the general presence of artefact scatters on field surfaces. .
