Popis: The paper presents aspects regarding the design and execution of the new bridge over the Cibin River, in the city of Sibiu. The new bridge has four traffic lanes and sidewalks for both pedestrians and cyclists. The superstructure is made of two circular arches with the cross-section O508x40 mm. Each arch is connected to an inclined secondary arch to prevent lateral buckling. The deck is a composite structure, steel cross girders being connected with a reinforced slab. The deck is suspended to the arches through vertical hangers made from solid circular steel bars of steel S460 M. The problems that arisen with the design and execution of the bridge are the following: ensuring local and global buckling for the steel arches with a tubular cross-section; replacing hot-rolled members H1000B, with welded steel members for the ties; choosing the steel grade based on the grades to be found in Romania.; finding methods to build the arches based on the technology found in our country, in order to keep the erection costs at a minimum.
