The kinetics of the interaction between e-caprolactone and diols under the action of complex catalysts of the onium type, namely, R4NFeCl4 and R4PFeCl4, have been studied. It is shown that the reaction passes through a stage involving the equilibrium formation of an intermediate complex between the lactone and the diol. The catalyst in this complex links to the lactone ring, forming a new ternary reactive complex. The further transformation of this complex follows two parallel paths, namely, a monomolecular and a bimolecular path involving reaction between the complex and the lactone molecule with the formation of an oligocaprolactonediol. The molecular mass of the oligomers and the effective activation energies of the parallel processes have been determined. |
