The cleavage of some mixed aliphatic-aromatic tin compounds by silver nitrate

Popis:	A quantitative study was made of the reaction between triethylphenyltin, diethyldiphenyltin, ethyltriphenyltin, and the corresponding n-propyl-phenyl compounds and silver nitrate in absolute ethanol at 25° C. The behaviour of the trialkyl and dialkyl compounds was markedly different from that of the monoalkyl compounds. In a tentative explanation the inductive (+ I) effect of the alkyl groups is held responsible for this phenomenon.
