Popis: Summary2,4-Dinitrophenol in the presence of sucrose stimulated root formation on hypocotyl cuttings (with apex and primary leaves intact) made from light-grown 7-day-old seedlings of Phaseolus mungo, and the increase was more marked in the presence of IAA + sucrose. Sodium azide and ammonium sulphate, two non-phenolic uncouplers of oxidative phosphorylation, also enhanced root formation on cuttings in the presence of IAA + sucrose. Exogenously supplied ATP depressed root formation in this system and even suppressed the promotive effect of 2, 4-DNP and sodium azide. Ammonium sulphate was able to overcome the depressing effect of ATP. ADP promoted root formation on these hypocotyl cuttings when used in combination with auxin and nutrition.
