Popis: Girls and women with disabilities make up one of the minority groups occupying invisible and isolated status at individual, family and societal sphere in Nepal. Exercise of power by able over disable and male over female in family is well structured and institutionalized in different aspects through different cultures which give birth to inequalities and injustices in Nepali society. Furthermore, severity of disability accentuates the individual problems and become burdensome for family; on the other, the social stigma labeled by society and stereotypical perception about gender subjugates girls and women with disabilities. The subjugation of these phenomena leads to discrimination, and discrimination is synonym for most girls and women with disabilities beginning from family and private sphere. Family is a primary social institution bond of affection, safe place, emotional care, and space for bridging community activities and independence for all human being; however, such institution becomes paradoxical when girls and women with disabilities undergo violence, abuse, injustices, inequalities, lacking collective voice and support. Such discriminatory behaviors experiencing from family sphere are very complex and subtle to define, that often remains unreported and lack public discussion. Hence, the role and behavior of family is crucial for better environment for all. Breaking down traditional silos within family by girls and women with disabilities with a new narrative among family and society has to commence for making progress toward equality, development, and inclusive society for all.
