Discrimination of resonant and nonresonant contributions to the nonlinear refractive index of rare earth doped materials

Popis:	In the present work we measured the n/sub 2/ lineshapes in resonance with absorption lines of Nd/sup 3+/:YAG and Nd/sup 3+/:YAP crystals, and the Yb/sup 3+/-doped phosphate glass. The measurements were performed using a variation of the single beam Z-scan technique.
