Popis:	The University of South Carolina School of Medicine has proactively pursued a series of projects and partnerships to meet the need for expanding geriatrics education and research. Partnering has resulted in “win-win” situations for patients, students, researchers, and organizations. In this article the authors describe the development of an academic geriatrics program using a partnership of public, private, and academic organizations. The historical background surrounding program development, the current status of the partnership, and the benefits of this approach are discussed.
