This paper describes a project in which a driving simulator is included in the vehicle design process. The simulator has programmable vehicle model parameters that allow for a dynamic response to driver commands. The simulator also features a fast response time and a low incidence rate of "simulator induced syndrome." Applications include supporting the development of new concepts for steering systems and evaluating the usability of vehicle controls and displays. |
