A new commercially-designed instrument using the Scanning Reference Electrode Technique (SRET) has enabled the measurement of localized current densities in the vicinity of pits in Type 304 stainless steel in natural seawater. The results demonstrate the scope for improved quantitative models of localized corrosion using this technique. |
