Building an Interdisciplinary Faculty Team for Allied Health Gerontology Education

Popis:	Although the interdisciplinary team is considered the basic unit of geriatric care, many academic programs provide no planned opportunity for interaction among allied health students from different disciplines, and university faculty wanting to work with colleagues from other disciplines must overcome many barriers to do so. This paper describes how an interdisciplinary faculty group collaborated to write and implement a personnel preparation grant emphasizing skill development for interdisciplinary geriatric care. Factors that helped make this collaboration successful are discussed, and recommendations for removing barriers to interdisciplinary work are presented.
