Popis: | The ventricular/vascular coupling of the intact right heart was investigated under normal conditions as well as conditions of acute pulmonary hypertension. The normal right ventricle operates at maximum efficiency and submaximal stroke work under normal loading conditions. With acute pulmonary hypertension, the effective afterload increases to a situation where the effective afterload is greater than end-systolic time-varying elastance which is characterized by a decrease in stroke volume and the advent of ventricular pump failure. > |
