Adolescent and young adult substance use is a major public health concern. The COVID-19 pandemic has had unprecedented effects on daily life and mental health. Studies show changes in substance use, but findings are conflicting. Understanding the pandemic's impact and following up on post-pandemic trends is crucial for developing prevention measures and targeted interventions to support young people's well-being. Thus, we explore, describe and analyze substance use patterns among German-speaking adolescents and young adults prior to the COVID-19 pandemic through the spring of 2023. |
