Popis: The now well established fact that living cells and tissues exhibit functional response to weaks (μA/cm2) currents is considered in terms of cell surface electrochemistry. It is shown that a choice of current waveform parameters designed to couple to specific adsorption and mass transport processes at cell membranes results in a significant increase in the uptake of 45Ca in 8–10 day embryonic chick tibia explants for periods of exposure to electromagnetically induced currents up to 120 min. A possible correlation between current waveform parameters and the observed electrochemical relaxations at living cell surfaces is discussed.
