Popis: Summary A controversial debate is still standing about the best management of ankle injuries.. Diagnosis is clinical, but imaging tools may be helpful to better identify the severity of the injury and assess associated secondary injuries. For an acute injury, functional treatment (brace, bandage or tape) is the first choice of management, considered more effective than ankle immobilization. Some 10-20% may develop residual chronic instability after conservative treatment of an acute lateral ligament injury, and surgery may be advocated. More than 80 different surgical procedures have been described, classified as either anatomic repair or nonanatomic reconstructions. Anatomical repairs are simple, less time, equipment, and cost consuming, and offer at least comparable results.
