Popis: The microstructure of N+ implanted steels has been investigated by TEM. After implantation, the ferrite and retained carbides of the implanted layer are cracked into polycrystals. The implanted ferrite layer is laminal. Voids and e-Fe2−3N precipitates are also found in the implanted ferrite. The process of ferrite cracking is qualitatively discussed in this paper.
