Izmir and its districts contain many heritages that they will carry to the future with their deep-rooted history, each of which has a different cultural value. In this research article, Ödemiş silk weavings and Tire Beledi weavings in the region, which has an old weaving tradition, are discussed and the developments from the past to the present and current production activities are evaluated. In Ödemiş, weaving activities continue with the efforts of a limited number of enterprises and weaving masters in the district, where weavings such as Ödemiş bed sheets, handkerchief or wrap, loincloth, administration cloth, and Pembezar are now produced only by order. Tire Beledi weaving, on the other hand, is examined in a more specific context, within the framework of the problems of weaver training, which occurred as a result of the death of his master, Saim Bayri, and today's production activities. With this study, the situation of traditional fabrics in new production areas and chains is questioned as a result of field research and interviews with resource people. |
