Photochemical hydroxylation of 7,8-dimethylalloxazine (lumichrome)

Popis: Anaerobic irradiation of an aqueous acid solution of lumichrome (7,8-dimethylalloxazine) initially leads to the formation of 9-hydroxylumichrome (II), 5,10-dihydrolumichrome (III) and 9-hydroxy-5,10-dihydrolumichrome (IV) in equilibrium with lumichrome (I). Prolonged irradiation results in complete conversion of lumichrome into 9-hydroxy-5,10-dihydrolumichrome (IV). The composition of the irradiated solutions has been analyzed from spectral data.
