Popis: Stylosanthes spp. are pasture legumes grown in tropical and subtropical areas in South-east Asia, Africa, South America and Australia (Burt et al. 1983). The genus Stylosanthes represents the most important pasture legumes of northern Australia and it is estimated that currently 700 000 ha are sown in this region, with potential for future expansion to 18.3 million ha (Weston et al. 1981). Stylosanthes spp. are mainly oversown into native grass pastures to increase the productivity of areas of low fertility (Walker and Weston 1990).
