Popis:	Considering the most typical cases of the primary and secondary circuit component damage of water-cooled and water-moderated reactors during nuclear power plant (NPP) operation, this paper demonstrates the necessity to investigate the corrosion and mechanical strength of NPP equipment. The results are presented on the effect of the coolant on the fracture resistance of materials at the stages of crack initiation and of propagation. The characteristics of fracture resistance obtained are compared with their permissible values in accordance with standard specifications.
