Large multi-spot beam broadband payloads are placing increasingly greater demands on spacecraft bus electrical power subsystems. These payloads require a larger mounting area, increased payload mass allocations and higher power levels. Lithium-ion (Liion) battery technologies facilitate power subsystem architectures and spacecraft designs with significant payload mass, thermal, and power advantages when compared with Nickel-Hydrogen (NiH2) power subsystems. |
