Particulate matter is the main pollutant of urban air in Colombia, it can affect air quality, health, economy and society. This work analyzes the concentrations of PM10, recorded during 3 hours in 37 points, in an area of 252,000 m2 around the Sergio Arboleda University, in order to estimate the cost benefit to health that people belonging to the university would have, all through the BenMAP program. A function of the Respiratory Disease Case Response (CER) concentration in BenMAP and the cost for consultation, laboratory tests, imaging, medications, supplies, and hospitalization for a respiratory disease was used. The analysis of results allows us to infer that the highest concentrations of PM10 are associated with traffic flow, 51 CERs were presented with an approximate total cost of $ 51 million COP and that the most promising scenario was that of the WHO, for presenting 33 CERs with a cost of $ 29 million COP. |
