Popis: | In power systems, the balance between generation and load is very important in order to maintain the grid frequency within the relevant stability margins. Load frequency control (LFC) has been used so far to provide grid support services (GSS) mainly from synchronous generators during disturbances in the power systems affecting frequency stability. The increasing shares of inverter based generation (IBG) partially replacing conventional generation lead to a reduction of rotating mass and hence, a decrease of directly coupled system inertia. Therefore, GSS provision from IBG is critical for maintaining power system stability in inverter-dominated grids. The main focus of this paper is frequency stability analysis of a prospective power system with high shares of inverters. An extended LFC model integrating grid-forming and grid-supporting inverters is introduced. Frequency stability analysis is being performed by using this model for power systems integrating different shares of IBG with enhanced GSS functionalities. |
