Popis:	This study shows that the subdivision of land into smaller parcels and settling of small-scale farmers on the parcels should not be the beginning or end of a land reform programme. If land is to be bought by the beneficiaries and they do not have any other form of capital, they will find it difficult to survive. It is recommended that the selection criteria to select beneficiaries of land reform programmes be developed very well. The sizes of the parcels on which the beneficiaries are to be settled should be big enough to be financially feasible. Another ingredient necessary for successful land reform programmes is managerial aptitude. The correct training and extension to the beneficiaries is therefore very important.
