A laser spectroscopic study of gas‐phase TiH

Popis: The results of the first laser spectroscopic study of gas‐phase titanium monohydride, TiH, are described. Survey laser induced fluorescence (LIF) scans over an extensive region of the visible spectrum revealed no new band systems that could be attributed to TiH. The known band system at 535 nm was studied by Doppler limited LIF, sub‐Doppler LIF, and sub‐Doppler/Stark LIF techniques. The 535 nm optical features are consistent with an assignment to the X 4Φ(Ω=3/2)–4Γ(Ω=5/2) subband. The permanent electric dipole moments of 2.998 and 2.455 D were determined for the excited and ground states, respectively.
