Popis: It is well known that following the onset of fluid flow over endothelial cells (ECs) they polarize and elongate in the direction of the flow. Here the cell is described using a continuum approximation and viewed as a passive object. This is the first step to a broader model incorporating a mathematical description of the signal transduction network of interacting molecules which govern the morphological change involving internal cellular structures such as the cytoskeleton.
