Popis: Visual acuity measurement is a crucial part in an oculovisual examination. The purpose of this study was to compare near visual acuity in pre-school Children using two children charts – the Lea symbols chart and the Sheridan Gardiner chart. One hundred and fifty three (153) pre- school Children (72 males and 81 females) between the ages of 3 to 5 years (mean age 4.23 ± 0.78 years) were recruited from five randomly selected nursery schools. Near visual acuity was measured monocularly and binocularly after a pre-testing had been done. An interval 5minutes was allowed in testing using both charts. Age and sex of each child were documented. Results showed no statistically significant difference in near visual acuities using both charts (p > 0.05). Age and gender had no significant difference in the results from each chart
